Even if it is, when it loosens, it loosens. This is even more so when they are worn out. It is quite stressful when parts come loose, and it is worse if you don't notice the loosening when you slow down. It would be much better to wrap the threaded part of the core shaft with sealing tape to prevent loosening. The sealing tape can also be used on aluminum shafts, and is more cost-effective and versatile.
