It can be used for both hard and soft.
When using hard, use the pins provided, and when using soft, use the tips to hold them in place.
Two sets are included in the package, so they can be used for a variety of exercises.

I bought it as a gift, remembering that a friend had said that she would not buy it for herself because she could substitute it with something else.
I was delighted with it.

I bought this to practice cricket numbers on a soft dartboard.
I think it has the same uneven surface as the spiders on the board and is less likely to be played when hit outside of the pin area.
There are two sets in the package, so it is good to share with someone.
